In my last post, I spoke of the creativity evident in the many donations we have received from artists and craftspeople – looking at the visual arts.
Another fine example of this is something we received just this afternoon from artist Wayne Boucher…
Entitled “Heaven’s Gate”, this 18″ square oil painting is magnificent. My camera simply does not do it justice – the colour is so very alive in person. I have the privilege of enjoying it as if it were my own for another couple days, then I will have to give it up to some fortunate bidder… Thanks Wayne!
Anyway, the point of my post today was to also commend the creativity shown by donors in a non-visual way… that being the contribution of goods and services that are often very fun and creative. For example, Hillsdale House Inn and Chef Paul Buxton have joined forces to offer a “Champagne Croquet Party for 8”. Now doesn’t that sound like a blast? Food, wine, fun… Another example, is Hedley House offering an overnight with Steak Dinner for 2 while you watch the setting sun from your deck. The Tulip Tree is offering a delectable Brunch for 4. The Bailey House B&B is offering a Gourmet Dinner for 6. Other Inns are offering overnights and champagne breakfasts.
Many professionals are offering their time and talent through the contribution of gift certificates – from legal services to massages, from horseback riding to pet checkups.
One of our volunteers has spent the last year propagating plants for us – as a result he has contributed MORE THAN 200 PLANTS to us for this year’s Dinner & Auction. How’s that for sharing your talents?
So creativity takes many forms, and we are thankful for all the creative people who support the Historic Gardens!
Event day is getting closer… ONLY 3 MORE SLEEPS!
