Historic Gardens Spring Dinner & Auction Celebrates 20 Years!
The final touches are underway for the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens’ 20th Annual Spring Dinner & Auction on Sunday, May 24, 4-8pm at the Annapolis Royal Legion & Community Centre. This much anticipated annual event has been a hallmark celebration of the Gardens in the community for TWO DECADES. The theme this year will be “Under the Sea” and the ambiance being created by the Imagineers is guaranteed to be very special. Paula Buxton is once again donating her time and talent to the Gardens, creating a wonderful menu and assembling a talented team of volunteers to assist her.
Organizers are pleased with how this year’s event is coming together. “We have an incredible group of volunteers working hard on our 20th Anniversary Dinner & Auction – that energy and enthusiasm is always key to our success.” says Trish Fry, Gardens Manager.
There will be hundreds of items up for grabs, and most guests will be lucky enough to take home a treasure or two at the end of the night. Fry notes that the success is due to incredible generosity all around. “We are very fortunate to have such terrific support from the Nova Scotia community with generous contributions of artwork, gifts, certificates, and of course, lots of incredible plant material thanks to the wonderful support of the nurseries throughout the province.” A photo gallery of items up for bid will be online soon at https://historicgardensauction.wordpress.com.
Board Chair John Mildon is very appreciative of the incredible community support. “Our annual Dinner & Auction has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Gardens in its 20 years, helping us to grow and develop into the world class attraction we have become. In fact, the Historic Gardens was recently recognized as Canada’s Garden of the Year, thanks in no small part to the support we receive from our Nova Scotia community.”
Tickets for the Spring Dinner & Auction are $40 and may be purchased until May 21 through the Gardens office (532-7018) or online at www.historicgardens.com. Local patrons are encouraged to purchase their tickets at Scotiabank Annapolis Royal, who will then match the purchase price through their Bright Future program.
